Yahoo Widget 4 is a valuable tool for users of Yahoo services, and it's a helpful download for anyone who wants standalone desktop tools for regular Web activities, system information, or whatever cool feature the next great widget will offer.
The Finance Toolbar download the latest data of your favorite stock and place this in the dynamic scrolling bar. Where you as user can discover the stock name, the current stock ask and the stock price. If you want to get more detail information about your stock, click on the white stock name label. And it opens direct that finance stock in your default web browser.

Yahoo's free finance widget is a small application that runs on your computer desktop and provides real-time stock prices, options, indexes, funds and other financial data. The widget is fully customizable -- it is up to you to decide which stocks and other financial data you want it to track. When you no longer want to monitor a specific stock using the widget, you can delete the stock from the widget with just a couple clicks of your mouse.
Yes I can see that for requesting some stocks, the widget goes bonkers. Maybe I need to switch the widget to Google finance or the XML feed of Yahoo, but I haven't got a lot of spare time nowadays. Will see what I can do, but the widget is pretty much coded towards the "old" Yahoo finance interface.
@DiJit, I'm pretty sure the first paragraph before the download link (above) explains the exact behaviour of updating. It's the tradeoff between supporting multiple instances of one widget (each with their own preferences/list of stocks) or just one. When you update the widget, due to the way Apple implemented the Dashboard update behaviour, it will remove all existing instances of the updated widget and replace all with just one new instance. The same applies to its preferences. The only way to remedy this, would be to only allow a single set of preferences for all instances of the same widget. This was the way the widget behaved in the past and this also didn't fly well with a large group of users. So, sorry to disappoint you, but the widget just can't cater to everyone's needs.
Widgets are little windows that see into the apps on your home screen. They provide you with instant information, without any need to even open the app. From a home screen, touch and hold an empty area, and then tap Widgets. Touch and hold your desired widget, and then drag it to your desired location. Some widgets will have multiple versions available or may require you to adjust the settings first 2ff7e9595c
